Tom O. Omondi

Tom Omondi is a lawyer specializing in medical malpractice and personal injury law. A recognized expert in the field, Tom began his career in the healthcare industry, playing a key role as a nurse leader in Houston’s medical community. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Prairie View A & M University and immediately started working at the bedside in various settings from long term care, to med surg and critical care. From those humble beginnings, Tom rose to the ranks of Chief Nursing Officer and eventually to Chief Executive Officer of a local long term acute care hospital before enrolling in law school. While in law school, Tom gained valuable experience working alongside firm partner Randy Sorrels, where he assisted in handling complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Tom maintains an active role in the medical community as a nurse leader and mentor which fuels his passion for his practice as a medical malpractice attorney.

In law school, Tom also took on leadership roles, serving as an associate editor of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review and holding a part-time position as a Writing Advisor to assist other students.  Upon graduation, Tom began immediately practicing law representing a variety of clients in medical malpractice, personal injury and civil litigation claims.

Outside the courtroom, Tom was the Inaugural President of the Nursing Alumni Association at the University of Houston where he graduated with a dual master’s degree in Nursing and Business Administration. Tom held that role for four years from 2018 to 2022. As a nurse of almost a decade and a half, Tom understands the importance of advocating for patients, and his legal education and skill empowers him to do just that when patients are harmed as a result of malpractice. Tom’s career path has been one of serving and helping others, and his commitment to his clients in the courtroom is just as strong as it has been to his patients throughout his career.
