Jim Martin

Jim is passionate about justice, and that passion is evident in his practice of personal injury trial law. He attributes it in part to profound injustices suffered by members of his own family at the unclean hands of profit-hungry companies. His great-grandmother was burned alive in the infamous Triangle Factory Fire, which resulted from an employer’s reckless practice of locking seamstresses inside the building to maximize profit, leaving them no chance of escape. His grandfather died at a very young age as a result of working inside industrial storage tanks with nothing more than a rag to protect him from toxic fumes and chemicals. These tragedies helped shape Jim’s lifelong commitment to justice.

Jim is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been for nearly 30 years. He has been a Texas-licensed attorney for over 40 years and has successfully settled or tried nearly every type of personal injury case, from 18-wheeler crashes to liquor liability cases involving the over-service of alcohol by bars. He has obtained numerous substantial jury verdicts and settlements. He is particularly proud of a recent jury verdict of more than $4 million for his deserving clients against a hospital for willful and wanton negligence—a case in which the insurance company never offered a single dollar in settlement.

Jim graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981 and earned his law degree from the University of Houston in 1984, where he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers (top 10%). He has dedicated his career to handling major injury cases at leading Texas law firms. A teacher and student of trial advocacy, Jim has also mentored younger lawyers on effective trial techniques.
